0413 Are High Intellectual Abilities a Protective Factor for Psycho-social Repercussions in Children with Narcolepsy?

Abstract Introduction Narcolepsy can have deleterious impact on cognitive and psychosocial functioning. Adequate intellectual abilities are generally a protective factor for bio-psycho-social adjustments in chronic disorders. The main objective of this study was to describe sleep, repercussions between children with narcolepsy controls according the abilities’ classification. Methods Children underwent one-night polysomnography, completed an assessment (WISC) filled Epworth Sleepiness Scale children, Insomnia Severity Index, Depression Inventory Conners. Comparisons were made two subgroups High Potentialities (HP; IQ or verbal reasoning index higher equal 130 evaluated by WISC) without HP. Results group HP consisted 25 (40% boys, median 11,5 years) (68% 11,7 years). Compared controls, did not present same profile at WISC (lower perceptual less discrepancy indexes). They had fewer conduct disorders tendency school difficulties, learning disabilities, impulsivity than controls. 22 (55% 12,1 21 10 presented as their peers narcolepsy, but they reported more difficulties insomnia scores. both groups sleepiness scores showed classic pattern characteristics PSG. There no difference socio-economic level parents groups. Conclusion In high act against disease adaptive functioning, whereas normal-to-low predict greater pathology daily-life highlighting need multifactorial management.
